Next Chicago Builders-Faith Based Project

Calling all youth interested in a career in construction! HIRE360 and Rainbow PUSH Coalition, in partnership with construction firms and trades partners, are seeking students who are interested in working in the trades for a unique construction opportunity. This construction project will offer exposure to, hands-on work and internship opportunities to those interested in pursuing opportunities in the construction trades beyond this mini-internship.

The construction project includes repairing churches throughout Chicago’s South and West Side neighborhoods alongside journey workers from the appropriate trades to lead the students in the repairs.  As part of the work, students will be exposed to skills like reading blueprints, basic construction math, and more. Students will participate in Construction Industry and Trades Orientations that address the two main benefits that young people consider in the trades – pay and the ability to learn valuable skills.

The students will also be offered field trips to construction sites and apprenticeship training centers to learn more about the industry and about paid summer internships with some of Chicago’s leading general contractors.

Students will be paid $15 an hour over four to six weeks to help repair Chicago’s community churches. The repairs to 10 churches would start in the fall of 2021 through the spring of 2022.

Following the mini-internship, students who are interested in pursuing a career in the trades following high school, will have HIRE360 ready and available to assist!  Following high school graduation, HIRE360 will enroll interested students into our work-ready adult program and connect them to apprenticeship programs.

The project is an after school and weekend program.
