As part of Cook County Solar Synergy, HIRE360 trains candidates through a tailored pre-apprenticeship training program that prepares participants to pass industry-certification exams in solar-related trades, including construction, wiring and installation. Upon completion of the program, participants will be eligible to apply for and be placed in trade-union apprenticeships.

What does the pre-apprenticeship program offer?
- Urban Green Construction Fundamentals, a training program that prepares candidates to enter solar-supporting trades, including as an electrician or a carpenter
- Financial assistance to cover costs of work gear and application fees
- Tutoring and test preparation for trades-apprenticeships’ entrance exams
- Mentorship and retention support for newly placed candidates
- First aid/CPR training
What are the minimum requirements to apply?
Eligible candidates must:
- Be 18 or older and have completed high school or received a GED,
- Have legal employment authorization (such as a green card, Temporary Protective status, or be a U.S. citizen),
- Possess a valid driver’s license, and
- Be willing and able to pass a drug screening.
